School to Work

Appalachian Crossroads, in partnership with Garrett County Public Schools and the Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services, offers a School to Work program for high school students with disabilities to build work experience in order to transition successfully to employment upon graduation.

The program utilizes a mix of in-class instruction, job shadowing, job tryouts, and paid internships. The School to Work program helps students discover who they are and what they want to do. Building on the identification of personal strengths, students prepare for the job search process creating resumes, practicing for interviews, and roleplaying real work situations.

“We have been a partner in the school to work transition program for several years. It has been great for us and for the students!”
